Studio Devona - Music & Sound Therapy

How my interest began

I have been dabbling around with music since the late 1970's. When I was college some of the bands I listened to were Kim Wilde, Gary Numan, Human League and also Pink Floyd. When the first electric Casio keyboards were made I got one of those and enjoyed it so eventually I bought a Korg Poly 800 synthesizer and an RX11 drum machine and it all went from there. Since then I have gone through a fair few synths and other gear and finally seem to have settled on a set up that I enjoy working with.

The inspiration for my music main came from shaping the sounds on the synthesizer and seeing what came of it. But because of my love of nature and especially Dartmoor and the coast of Devon I would often find melodies would just come into my head while out walking and they would play around and around and evolve in my mind. I have many hundreds of song concept ideas that have been quickly recorded so I do not forget them and now and then I will work on the ones I like and complete the songs.

My Youtube Channel

All my music is uploaded to Youtube and is free to listen to. There are around 50 plus videos there which include all the music I have released which covers electronic/ambient tracks as well as my more recent meditation nature therapy sound tracks too.

Please note that the videos on Youtube have been created for over two decades so the names, contact info and other information on them will be out of date on any pre 2025 material.

Bandcamp

Most of my music is uploaded to bandcamp where it can be played and also purchased as a download if you like it. This includes music I have released which covers electronic/ambient tracks as well as some of my more recent meditation nature therapy sound tracks too.

Devona

2021 Full length music album

Devona is an album mingling ambient electronic tracks with meditational pieces. Many of the tracks were inspired while enjoying the atmosphere of the moorlands of Dartmoor in England where I spend much of my time.

This album is free to listen to on my Youtube channel and can be purchased as a download on Bandcamp along with other albums and tracks I have done.

My three early albums 1988-1999...

The Calling of Dawn

1988-1999 Full length music album with approximately 50 minutes of listening.

The Calling of Dawn ponders on emotions in an atmospheric meditation using synthesisers and sampled natural sound effects. A companion album Life Beneath the Blue Sky is also available with more up-tempo compositions.

This album is free to listen to on my Youtube channel.

Life Beneath the Blue Sky

1988-1999 Full length music album with approximately 50 minutes of listening.

This is a companion album following on from The Calling of Dawn. It includes a selection of more up-tempo tracks with a continued theme of atmosphere and drama created using synthesisers and sampled natural sound effects.

This album is free to listen to on my Youtube channel.

Three Wishes

1985-1989 Full length music album with approximately 45 minutes of listening.

This album was put together following the success of my other two albums, "The Calling of Dawn" and "Life Beneath the Blue Sky". These have been enjoyed by many listeners since their release in 1999. In 2003 I was able to sort through more concepts that I had created between 1985 and 1989. This resulting album "Three Wishes" includes a number of the better pieces that I thought would be enjoyed and were mainly composed free-style on a Korg Poly 800 synthesizer with simple drum patterns.

This album is free to listen to on my Youtube channel.

Gear

I have decided to include a list of most if not all the gear I have used since the early 1980's! This is linked to another page so click the button below to check it out.
